Tai Lam and Long Valley 17 Oct 2020 - Global Bird Weekend Day 1

One of my darkest period in my life... HDD dead, 1Dxii broken, Leica repairing,  iPhone is dying, and now my photo editing software crashed........ But anyway, still needa bird........

The Oct Big Day this year is also the Global Bird Weekend, I participated this fund raising event to stop illegal bird trade, by submitting all the species we recorded in eBird with Rockjumper Team this weekend.

Forest birding in Tai Lam resulted Sulphur-breasted Warbler, Hartert's and Eastern Crowned Warbler, Japanese Paradise Flycatcher. Also plenty Fire-breasted Flowerpecker with males and females.

In Long Valley, tried for the Yellow-breasted Bunting but failed, only Pheasant-tailed Jacana, (introduced) White-headed and Chestnut Munia, and expected Amur Falcon.

Fine, will upload photo when my software is fixed. damn

Ho Man Tin and Long Valley 19 Oct 2019 - what a life

After more than a month, I think its time to stop and think twice about the future path. While birding is really a good way to assist thinking.

We visited Ho Man Tin in the morning first, well, I still could not find my luck back. I missed the Orange-headed Thrush and only saw Brown Shrike, Arctic Warbler and Asian Brown Flycatcher, these common migrants.

Masked Laughingthrush - when can I continue my birding work

Light-vented Bulbul - a nice perch

We went Long Valley in the afternoon, slightly better, the noticeable migrants are 13 Yellow-breasted Bunting, a Chestnut-eared Bunting, single Common Kestrel, two Eastern Buzzard, two Oriental Honey Buzzard and the naughty Japanese Quail. 11 Greater Painted Snipe and the escaped White-headed Munia were also highlights of the day.

Chai Wan 6 Oct 2018 - October Big Day

Today was the Oct Big Day, another eBird event, so tried to bird after class.

Chai Wan is my home place and this local place is always our first priority if we wanna bird but are tired, even Tung and I usually saw nothing special here, like today did. For some moment, we could see unexpected species like Woodcock, different flycatchers etc.

When no target, watching common birds can be fun and meaningful, and never forget why we started our birding life and how excited when we saw our first Common Emerald Dove.
