Shek Kong Catchment 24 Jan 2020 - still the possible Claudia

We returned for the possible Claudia's Leaf Warbler but only managed to get record shot with one song recording.

Other noticeable species include Verditer Flycatcher, Black-winged Cuckooshrike and Tristram's Bunting, not a birdy day at all.

Shek Kong Catchment 23 Jan 2020 - interesting phylloscopus

A short visit in Shek Kong Catchment today, which I saw the Dusky Thrush and two more interesting species.

One, a female Cyornis flycatcher, in bamboo where I saw Chinese Blue Flycatcher before. The bird was seen poorly but responded my tape a bit. Anyway, not safe to identify into species.

Second, a Phylloscopus Blyth's-type Leaf Warbler, which responded to Claudia's tape actively and call like Claudia. However, I was told there is no safe identification based on vocal or morphological features, so this little green job remained unidentified.

Checklist and sound recording as here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S63719330

Guangzhou 19 Jan 2020 - Spotted Crake

After being back from South Africa in early morning on 18 Jan, I decided to make another twitch in the next day - the Spotted Crake, which is definitely a vagrant in SE China.

Departed at 330am and finally arrived the spot (Dajisha) at around 715am, the Spotted Crake was already spotted😜

Not many other birds there (a Lesser Whistling Duck was reported but we didn't find any) and we saw Brown-cheeked Rail, Siberian Rubythroat and Bluethroat.

Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S63539949

going to the spot while still dark. Dajisha is an island and 5 mins ferry is required.

Birding never tired but so I made a very short walk in backyard, aimed for Gould's Sunbird but none.
